A 41-year-old Parlier man was killed on Wednesday when he crashed his car into a semi-tractor in Fresno County.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the collision just before 6 a.m. on American Avenue, east of Del Rey Avenue.

According to CHP, a 2013 Dodge Challenger driven by Juan Rodriguez was traveling east on American behind a semi-tractor (without trailer). The semi was slowing and prepared to make a left turn into the Pom Wonderful plant.

CHP said Rodriguez was speeding and collided with the rear of the semi-tractor. The impact caused the semi-tractor to rotate into the opposing lane.
