Central Valley travelers can now fly nonstop from Fresno to San Diego and back in one day, airport officials announced Thursday, Oct. 2.
The Fresno Yosemite International Airport now offers two non-stop Southwest Airlines flights to San Diego per day, the airport posted on its social media accounts.
“Early mornings, big milestones!” the posts say. “We officially launched Southwest Airlines nonstop service from FAT - SAN. What a great way to start the day and add a new chapter in travel options for our community!”
Fresno Yosemite International Airport did not respond to the Fresno Bee’s request for comment.
The sunny city is the airline’s fourth destination served through Fresno, according to YourCentralValley.com.
“Southwest Airlines continues to grow its presence at Fresno Yosemite International Airport by adding popular destinations to meet the increasing air travel needs of California’s Central Valley,” Interim Director of Aviation Francisco Partida said in a statement, according to the publication. “The addition of San Diego service operated by Southwest Airlines expands convenient access between the Central Valley and sunny Southern California and is timely with planning upcoming holiday travels.”
The airline also offers daily non-stop flights from Fresno to Denver and Las Vegas, and seasonal flights to Dallas Love Field airport, the outlet reported.
The earliest non-stop Southwest flight departs from Fresno at 7:10 a.m. and lands in San Diego at 8:25 a.m. Southwest’s website shows a fare price of $239, though the same flight shows on Google Flights for $127.
The later non-stop flight leaves from Fresno at 3:30 p.m. and lands in San Diego at 4:50 p.m. and costs about the same.
Alaska Airlines also offers a non-stop flight between Fresno and San Diego.
