Latino voters are not only concerned about immigration enforcement, but the cost of living, and fair representation in redistricting, according to a new statewide poll.

The new polling results released Tuesday morning by the Latino Community Foundation shows that 62% of Latino registered voters in California say they will vote in November special election.

Among the priorities and concerns of California’s Latino voters according to the poll includes election integrity, fair representation, economic justice, accountability in government cost of living and inflation, housing costs and affordability, and jobs.

“From the rising cost of living to the need for accountability in government, Latino voters are sounding the alarm and demanding solutions,” said Julián Castro, CEO of the Latino Community Foundation.

According to the poll 66% of Latino registered voters are worried President Trump will send federal officials to monitor voting centers polling places in California; 85% believe congressional maps should ensure fair opportunities for Latino candidates, while 75% support legislation that would require immigration officials to show identification and would block ICE agents from wearing masks; and 84% say corporations must pay their fair share of taxes to fund healthcare, child tax credits, and food assistance.

“LCF’s latest poll shows that our community is deeply committed to voting, clear about the issues that matter most, and united in the belief that democracy must be fair and accessible to all,” Castro said.

Trump immigration policies causing major worry among Latino voters. The survey showed that 67% disapprove of Donald Trump’s presidency, while only 33% approve.

Half of all Latino registered voters in California are worried that they themselves, a family member, or other loved one are at risk for deportation, according to the poll.

In 2024, Trump promised he would carry out mass deportations by focusing specifically on violent criminals and gang members. About 75% Latino voters feel he is breaking promises and unfairly targeting non-violent undocumented immigrants while 25% believe Trump is fulfilling his promises by targeting violent criminals and gang members.

A total of 1,200 California Latino voters from several regions of the state including from the Central Valley were interviewed between Sept. 8 and Sept. 16, through a combination of online and telephone interviewing in English or Spanish at their discretion.
