Two vehicles and a semi truck caught on fire on a Fresno highway.
California Highway Patrol spokesperson Mike Salas said the collision took place at 9:15 a.m. at northbound Highway 99 at Herndon Avenue.
Salas said there was a previous collision in Madera County that caused traffic along the northbound side to come to a stop.
A big rig pulling an empty trailer stopped in the middle lane, but a small pickup truck and a sedan were both driving fast and collided into the empty trailer that caused both vehicles to catch on fire, Salas said. The empty trailer also burned.
The passengers in the vehicle were able to get out of the vehicles and had minor injuries. The semi driver wasn’t injured.
Traffic on northbound 99 will be closed for at least another two hours. CHP advised to use surface streets or Highway 41 to avoid the traffic along northbound 99.
