Police responded to the call just after 8:30 p.m. of a non-breather, after the 2-year-old got into the backyard and accidently fell into the pool.

The father was en route to the hospital with the child when he stopped at Veterans Boulevard and Highway 99. First responders took over and performed CPR. The child was pronounced dead.

Fresno Police Marcus Gray II said no foul play was suspected. Fresno police will provide resources to the family.

The drowning is under investigation.
