A Clovis man who went missing June 22 was found dead Thursday in a canal after a fisherman spotted the body, authorities said.

The Fresno Police Department responded to the area of Temperance and McKinley avenues and located the body in the canal. He was identified as 55-year-old Surinder Pal.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office search and rescue team also responded and recovered the body from the canal.

The Clovis Police Department said there are no suspicious circumstances in regards to Pal’s death.

Pal was last seen in Fresno near Blackstone and Dakota, and his car was found abandoned the next day near Temperance and McKinley.

Pal owned the popular Standard Sweet & Spices, located on Dakota near Blackstone.
