A California Highway Patrol officer avoided tragedy Saturday.

CHP said a 22-year-old suspected DUI driver veered off the highway and collided into the back of a parked CHP motorcycle and two truck.

Fortunately for the officer, the vehicle didn’t strike him as he was off the bike investigating a prior crash.

CHP said other bystanders were not hit.

The driver was arrested on a DUI charge.

CHP advises drivers if “you see someone who may be under the influence, report it” and “if you witness someone preparing to drive after consuming alcohol or drugs, step in and say something to stop them.”
