Pedestrian killed when vehicle collides with him, Fresno police say

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and later died at the hospital Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the deadly collision just before 4 a.m. at Jensen and Elm avenues and found the pedestrian lying on the roadway.

First-aid was given before the man, who is in his 30s or 40s, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he died, police said.

The driver and passenger remained on scene and is cooperating.

Police said the vehicle was going west on Jensen when the driver struck the man, who was in the westbound lane and in the crosswalk.

The roadway was closed for several hours as detectives investigated the collision.
