Rough fire scorches 5,000 acres near Kings Canyon
The Rough fire burning near Kings Canyon grew to 5,200 acres Tuesday, but is expanding slowly, Forest Service officials said.
The fire began July 31 after lightning struck a steep hillside near Spanish Mountain.
There are no forest closures as a result of the blaze. But smoke at times will blow into the Wishon Reservoir area, as well as Hume Lake and Cedar Grove.
More than 200 firefighters are working on the fire, which as of Tuesday, was 0% contained.
