Five-day full closure of Hwy. 41 between Fresno and Coast. Here’s where, when
A 20-mile stretch of Highway 41 will be closed for construction in the coming weeks, creating challenges for those traveling between the Fresno area to the Central Coast.
The good news for Memorial Day weekend travelers is that the road work won’t begin until next month.
The stretch of Highway 41 between Highway 46 East and Reef Station near State Route 33 will be closed starting June 9 for five full days.
The construction is for the new Highway 46/Highway 41 Interchange in Cholame in northern San Luis Obispo County.
Caltrans forecasts drivers to expect delays in each direction. A detour has been mapped out for drivers in both directions.
Those coming from the Fresno area going to the Central Coast can use the detour of southbound Highway 41 to State Route 33 south to Highway 46 west before getting back on the 41 south.
