Porterville girl, 4, killed in crash after driver falls asleep
A 4-year-old Porterville girl died early Sunday when the driver of the car she was riding in collided with a power pole, the California Highway Patrol reported.
About 3 a.m., Christopher Narvaiz, 27, of Porterville driving east on Avenue 184, west of Road 192, when he fell asleep, the CHP reported. The 2005 Ford struck the pole, rolled and came to rest on its roof.
The 4-year-old died at the scene. A 9-year-old girl was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. Narviaz sustained minor injures, as did Crystal Munoz, 26, and four other children.
