Woman, teen passenger killed in Millerton Road crash

A woman and a minor from Fresno were killed early Monday when the Acura the woman was driving collided with another car on Millerton Road east of Clovis, the California Highway Patrol reported.

They were identified as Cecilia Hernandez, 19, and Lucero Aguirre, 14.

The CHP said that just after midnight, Hernandez was driving west on Millerton Road, east of Friant Road, at about 70 mph. Deborah Marie Cura, 57, of Fresno, was eastbound on Millerton in a Honda. Hernandez, while trying to negotiate a corner, drove onto the right dirt shoulder, went into the oncoming lane and collided with the Honda, the CHP said.

Hernandez and Aguirre died at the scene. A passenger, Selena Hicks, 18, of Fresno, sustained major injures. Cura sustained moderate injuries and passenger Felix Cura, 61, of Fresno sustained minor injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
