How did Upgrade Points come with rankings?
To come up with its list, Upgraded Points ranked more more than 1,000 long-distance domestic flight routes in the United States with an average of 1,800 miles or more, using data from the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ Domestic Airline Consumer Airfare Report.
The site focused on one-way trips exceeding 1,800 miles, aggregated as directionless airport pairs.
It calculated air fares, which included nonstop and connecting flight itineraries, using a weighted average of passenger volume from the fourth quarter of 2023 to the third quarter of 2024
Distance was measured as nonstop mileage, regardless of whether a nonstop flight was available.
