Paper ignites inside train in Fresno
About 40 rolls of paper were burned Tuesday in Fresno when a freight train caught fire.
The train was stopped near Marks and Nielsen avenues when the fire started shortly after 4 p.m.
Each roll of paper in the train weighed about 3.5 tons, said Battalion Chief Thomas Cope.
Firefighters battled the fire for more than an hour and used about 10,000 gallons of water.
There were some people working around the train when the fire started, but the train was not attached to a locomotive and there were no injuries, Cope said.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
