Fire in doghouse spreads to home in northeast Fresno

A fire that erupted in a doghouse and spread to a home in the 7900 block of North Baird Avenue, near Nees and Chestnut avenues, is being investigated by the Fresno Fire Department.

A spokesman said firefighters arrived at the home about 8:30 a.m Tuesday., where the resident said she was awakened by a smoke detector and saw smoke in her back yard. She went outside and noticed that the blaze had caught her entire deck on fire and spread into the home. It took crews approximately 20 minutes before the fire was under control.

There were no injuries but approximately $85,000 in damages.
