Man arrested after threatening CRMC doctors

A man who threatened to kill doctors at Community Regional Medical Center unless he received $50 million was arrested Monday by Fresno police.

Lt. Joe Gomez said officers were called to the hospital by security after the man, identified as Chan Scott, 40, presented a note demanding cash and pulled a knife. The man fled after security officers displayed electronic stun devices.

A short time later, police dispatchers received a call from a man on the Fulton Mall who said someone was at CRMC killing doctors. Officers suspected the call came from Scott and spotted him on mall.

He fled again but was arrested at Kern and G streets on charges of making terrorist threats, attempted robbery, brandishing and a parole violation. He was taken to CRMC for a mental evaluation. Gomez said he was later be booked into jail.
