Oak tree branch causes power outage in Visalia
A falling oak tree branch early Sunday caused a power outage near the College of the Sequoias in Visalia.
Visalia Fire Department said the branch hit wires on the east side of Woodland Street and Laurel Avenue, causing a transformer explosion. Electricity was shut down for up to 300 residents nearby.
Southern California Edison made repairs early Sunday morning. It was unknown how long power would be out.
Five fire units responded with 13 personnel. Visalia police also assisted in traffic control.
