Pedestrian seriously injured after getting hit by vehicle in Fresno, police say

A man was rushed to the hospital Monday morning after he was struck by a vehicle in Fresno.

The incident took place at Ashlan and Blackstone avenues shortly before 7 a.m., Sgt. Diana Trueba-Vega said.

The driver was traveling northbound on Blackstone, south of Shields Avenue in the No. 1 lane and the pedestrian was walking west when he was struck.

Trueba-Vega said the pedestrian is a man in his early 60s and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. He was listed in critical condition.

It was unknown who was at fault, Trueba-Vega said.

The driver remained on scene and was cooperative.
