Will Fresno see rain or sunshine on New Year’s Eve? Here’s the latest forecast
Before ringing in 2025 in Fresno, you might want to check the weather forecast.
After weekend rain showers, the weather is set to shift on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, according to the National Weather Service.
Here is the outlook heading into the new year:
What’s the forecast for New Year’s Eve in Fresno?
On New Year’s Eve — Tuesday, Dec. 31 — Fresno is expected to have a high temperature near 52 degrees with areas of fog before noon and calm winds, according to the National Weather Service’s latest seven-day forecast.
The overnight low temperature will be 38 degrees.
You can expect partly cloudy night skies for your end-of-2024 celebration, the weather agency said.
Will it be foggy on New Year’s Day in Fresno?
Widespread fog will roll into the Fresno area after 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, according to the weather service.
Fresno could also see fog before 10 a.m.
The first day of 2025 will be partly sunny, with a high near 54 degrees and calm winds, according the weather agency.
Wednesday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low of around 40 and patchy fog before midnight.
You might also see patchy fog after 1 a.m. Thursday.
Weather service meteorologist Dan Harty called fog “the No. 1 weather hazard in the Central Valley.”
“That’s definitely something people need to be aware of,” Harty said.
The long-range forecast for Fresno indicates that the fog should fade by noon on Thursday, although more fog is expected Friday and Saturday.
Could it rain in Fresno?
According to Harty, there’s no threat of rain in the forecast for New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day.
He said showers were expected “mainly for Northern California” at the beginning of the week, with less than a 10th of an inch of precipitation expected to fall in Fresno.
The weather “looks to remain dry through the rest of the week,” Harty said.
