Will it rain in Fresno on Christmas?
That’s one question locals have as the holiday approaches.
The National Weather Service’s Hanford posted a map on X showing the probability of a quarter-inch or more of rainfall on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24.
Fresno has a 52% chance of showers on that day, the weather service said.
“In addition to a favorable chance for rainfall across the valley areas next Tuesday, snowfall will be likely in the Sierra Nevada above 7,000 feet, “ the weather service posted on X.

What’s the latest weather forecast for Fresno?
On Friday, Fresno was expected to have a high temperature near 66 degrees and a low temperature of 48 degrees with calm winds, according to the National Weather Service’s latest seven-day forecast.
Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 67 and wind gusts around 5 mph.
Saturday night will be cloudy with a low around 51.
When will rain start falling in Fresno?
Fresno will have a 20% chance of showers on Sunday morning before 10 a.m., according to the weather service. The day will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 63.
Sunday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low of around 49 and patchy fog after 4 a.m. Monday.
Monday will see more fog before 9 a.m.
The rest of the day will be sunny, with a high near 65.
“There’s a 30% chance on Monday night of rain,” said Brian Ochs, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Hanford.
Monday night will have patchy fog between midnight and 3 a.m., with a low around 51.
Will it rain on Christmas Eve? Christmas Day?
Showers will continue on Tuesday, Christmas Eve, with an 80% chance of precipitation and rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Showers will be mainly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and wind gusts will be as high as 15 mph.
The high on Tuesday will be around 60 and the low will be 44.
Tuesday night will have a 30% chance of rain before 10 p.m. and winds around 5 mph.
The Fresno downtown ice rink will be closed on Christmas Eve due to “a forecast of heavy rain,” the rink posted on its social media page.
“Your safety is our top priority!” the rink said in the post. “If you’ve purchased tickets for Dec. 24, you can easily transfer them to a different date and time.”
Wednesday, Christmas Day,will be sunny with a high of around 55 and a low of around 45.
Showers will be back on Thursday, with a 30% chance of rain. The high will be 54 and winds will be around 5 mph.
How much rain has fallen in December so far?
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in the Fresno area have been two to four degrees above normal so far in December.
National Weather Service meteorologist David Spector said Fresno has experienced a drier than normal December.
“The total rainfall totals for the month of December were 26 hundredths,” Spector said.
Meanwhile, Fresno experienced a wetter than average November, he said.
For the period of Nov. 25 through Nov. 30, Fresno received about 120% to 190% more precipitation than the normal monthly amount.
