Rain is returning to Fresno area, along with warmer temperatures. How long will showers last?
Goodbye, fog. Hello, rain.
Showers are returning to the Fresno area, just in time for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
On Thursday Dec. 12, a storm dropped a quarter of an inch of rain fell Fresno, National Weather Service meteorologist Mikal Montgomery told The Fresno Bee.
Another storm will rapidly sweep through the area soon, bringing more precipitation and an increase in temperatures, according to the weather service.
More than a 10th of an inch of rain could fall over a 24-hour period at lower elevations in Central California, the weather service wrote in an X post.
“The northern portions and the foothills will favor the storm with some of the higher probabilities during the weekend and early next week,” the agency said.

What’s in the weather forecast for Fresno?
Fresno had a 20% chance of rain before 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, according to the weather service’s latest seven-day forecast.
Friday was expected to be partly sunny, with a high temperature near 55 degrees and around 5 mph.
The overnight low temperature will be around 49 degrees.
How much rain is expected to fall in Fresno?
On Saturday, there’s an 90% chance of precipitation with rain and a possible thunderstorm before 1 p.m., the weather service said.
More rain will fall between 1 and 4 p.m., followed by a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m.
The high will be near 58, and winds could gust as high as 25 mph.
“New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch” are expected, the weather service said, with “higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.”
On Saturday night, there’s a 40% chance of rain before 10 p.m. It’ll be mostly cloudy, with a low around 41.
Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high near 54 and calm winds. The temperature will drop to 41 at night.
“As far as amounts go, we are looking at around a 10th of an inch of rain to about 20th of an inch of rain for the weekend,” Montgomery said.
Are more showers coming to Fresno?
Fresno is expected to get more rain on Monday as another storm drops in.
“We may have another chance for some precipitation — not too much — on Monday morning into Monday afternoon,” Montgomery said.
Monday will have a 30% chance of rain, mainly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., the weather service said.
The day will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 55.
There’s a 20% chance of rain before 10 p.m.
Monday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 44.
Is dry weather on the way?
After Monday, “It should be dry for quite some time,” Montgomery said.
Tuesday will be partly sunny, with a high near 54 and an overnight low around 41, according to the weather service.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a high near 58 and a low around 41.
The fog returns Wednesday night.
Thursday will be foggy with mostly sunny skies and a high near 60.
