Update: Harley rider killed in solo crash in Fresno County foothills ID’d by coroner

A 63-year-old motorcycle rider died Sunday following a crash in the foothills of eastern Fresno County.

The California Highway Patrol reported the man was riding his Harley Davidson on Sample Road near Pittman Hill Road when he drove off the road and onto the dirt shoulder, where he struck a metal street sign and was thrown from his motorcycle. A call reporting the crash came into the CHP around 8:40 a.m.

Medical personnel responded and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified Tuesday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Charles Ramirez, 63, of Fresno.

He was wearing a helmet and does not appear to have under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, according to the CHP report. An investigation in ongoing.
