An evacuation order was in effect near Chuckchansi Gold Resort & Casino in Coarsegold after a fire broke out, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Coarsegold Fire was burning in the area of the 46000 block of Road 417.

Zones 0711 and E0717 were under an evacuation order because of an immediate threat to life.

“This is an evacuation order to leave now,” deputies said. “The area is being closed to public access. Take action immediately. If you’re in need of evacuation assistance, call 9 1 1. An evacuation shelter is to be determined.”

Fire crews responded to a structure fire just before 11:30 a.m.

Eight acres were burned.
