Two dead, one injured in Lindsay SUV vs. tractor crash
Two men died and a third sustained major injuries Monday when their SUV collided with a loaded tractor trailer on Highway 65 in Lindsay, the California Highway Patrol said.
The CHP said the SUV driver was traveling southbound on Highway 65 when he pulled to the shoulder and attempted to make a U-turn in front of the tractor. The tractor driver attempted to stop and avoid it, but the SUV collided with the trailer.
The SUV driver was described as a 28-year-old from Porterville. His front passenger was a 70-year-old man, also from Porterville. Their identities were not released pending notification of the families. The backseat passenger, Jesus Alcantar, 23, of Porterville, was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center.
Alcohol or drugs apparently were not a factor in the crash, the CHP said. The crash is under investigation.
