Alaska Air announces winter-season nonstop flights from Fresno. Here’s where they’ll fly
Alaska Airlines has announced a new slate of seasonal nonstop flights this coming winter from several California airports, including Fresno, to cities in Mexico and other popular destinations.
At Fresno Yosemite International Airport, Alaska will join Volaris and Aeromexico with daily flights to and from Guadalajara, Mexico, starting Dec. 3 and continuing through Feb. 12. Volaris and Aeromexico are based in Mexico, but Alaska Airlines will become the first domestic airline to provide international service from Fresno.
Among other California airports for which Alaska Airlines announced seasonal routes on Wednesday are:
- Sacramento International: Five flights per week to and from Los Cabos, Mexico, Jan. 6 through April 21.
- Sacramento International: Daily flights to and from Tucson, Arizona, Jan. 6 through April 21.
- Sacramento International: Four flights per week to and from Orlando, Florida, Jan. 6 through April 21.
- Sacramento International: One flight per week to and from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Jan. 11 through April 19.
- John Wayne Airport/Orange County: Daily flights to and from Boise, Idaho, starting Dec. 19.
- Los Angeles International: Daily flights to and from Kelowna, British Columbia, Dec. 19 through March 17.
- San Diego International: Daily flights to and from Reno, Nevada, Dec. 19 through April 21.
- San Diego International: Three flights per week to and from Vail, Colorado, Dec. 20 through March 16.
- San Francisco International: One flight per week to and from Liberia, Costa Rica, Dec. 21 through May 10.
A statement issued Wednesday by officials at Fresno Yosemite International Airport said the new flights to Guadalajara will provide extra capacity to and from Guadalajara during the holiday season when more service is needed.
Alaska’s daily flights between Fresno and Guadalajara will be scheduled for takeoff from Fresno at 7 a.m., in time for arrival in Guadalajara at 12:40 p.m. The return flights from Guadalajara will depart at 8:52 p.m. and arrive in Fresno at 10:56 p.m.
Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer said almost 239,000 passengers flew on flights between Fresno and Guadalajara in 2023, “making it clear that Fresno and Guadalajara share a special connection.” Fresno ranks fourth among U.S. airports in the numbers of passengers flying to Guadalajara – the capital of the state of Jalisco and the second most populous metropolitan area in Mexico with about 5.5 million residents.
“The winter holiday season is the busiest period for travel to Guadalajara and the added capacity will expand this popular international air gateway between California’s Central Valley and Mexico,” Fresno airports director Henry Thompson said.
Tickets for the seasonal flights at Fresno and the other California cities will be available starting Wednesday evening at alaskaair.com.
