Visitors to Yosemite National Park have access to some of the best lodging options in the nation, according to USA Today.

The Ahwahnee Hotel ranked at No. 7 on the publication’s list of the top 10 national park lodges in the United States in 2024, released May 15.

“National park lodges offer travelers the opportunity to enjoy overnight stays in the midst of some of America’s most beautiful scenery,” USA Today said, and the Ahwahnee is no exception.

Meanwhile, AutoCamp Yosemite was one of USA Today’s top 10 vintage trail hotels in the country, landing at No. 7.

What is The Ahwahnee?

Built in 1927, The Ahwahnee features a stone-and-wood facade that reflects the natural grandeur of Yosemite National Park.

“With giant stone fireplaces, hand-stenciled beams, rich tapestries and sparkling stained glass, the hotel’s interior is as striking as the exterior,” USA Today said.

Large windows offer sweeping views of waterfalls and cliffs.

Amenities include a bar, sweet shop, gift shop and heated outdoor swimming pool. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available at the grand Ahwahnee Dining Room.

The 121-room hotel is currently undergoing an “extensive seismic retrofit renovation project” that will last through 2024, according to TravelYosemite.com.

Accommodations at the 35-acre site off Highway 140 in Midpines range from classic Airstream trailers to pine cabins and luxury tents.

“Each one provides guests with amenities ranging from private patios to panoramic windows,” USA Today said.

Guests can kick back at The Clubhouse, lounge at outdoor fire pits or take advantages of experiences ranging from yoga classes to wilderness tours. Meals are available at The Kitchen while The General Store offers grab-and-go grocery options.
