Fire near Easton burns commercial building
Fresno County firefighters battled a fire that broke out Saturday morning in what CalFire Fresno County described as a commercial building north of Easton.
The fire, reported about 9:30 a.m., sent thick, black smoke billowing over south Fresno. It burned in a metal-sided building in a compound on the west side of Elm Avenue south of Central Avenue.
CalFire said several residences were threatened. At one point, a loud boom could be heard from the fire.
It did not appear that cattle trucks stored in a large lot just south of the compound were in danger.
Two water tankers were called out to assist. The fire appeared to be largely under control by 10 a.m.
