Pedestrian badly injured after getting struck by a vehicle in Fresno, police say

Fresno police

A man was badly injured Friday night after he was struck by a vehicle in southeast Fresno.

Officers responded at 7:46 p.m. to E. Tulare Avenue and S. 7th Street and found a man in the middle of the road.

Fresno police Lt. Henry Garcia said the driver was going westbound on Tulare in a full size SUV when he struck the man in the middle of Seventh Street.

It was unclear why the man was in the middle of the road.

He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and is listed in critical condition because of a head injury.

The driver, who was uninjured, remained on scene and cooperated with police.

Garcia said officers are canvassing for surveillance video to see what happened prior to the collision.

Officers remained on scene for several hours to investigate the incident.

Alcohol and drugs are not a factor, Garcia said.
