Highway 140 in Yosemite National Park was to reopen at 6 p.m. Thursday to traffic in both directions as a mudslide has been cleared away.

In a note to park employees, Yosemite officials said road-clearing work would continue for several more days and caution needs to be paid.

“No stopping in the slide area between Arch Rock entrance station and park line,” the note emphasized.

The slide occurred Tuesday evening following heavy downpours, the result of thunderstorms that developed from remnants of Hurricane Delores. The west entrance to the park was closed as road crews worked to remove rock, mud and other debris that washed across the highway.
