Popular Sierra Nut House closing one of its Fresno locations. ‘Time to go’
The Sierra Nut House is closing its original location at Sierra and Chestnut avenues in Fresno on Friday, the establishment announced Monday.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce our last day open for business at the Sierra & Chestnut location,” the management wrote on social media.
Sierra Nut House owner Joann Sorrenti said it was “time to go” after selling the land, located at 3034 E. Sierra Ave..
The store has been serving customers for more than 50 years in the location that started at 6672 N. Chestnut in 1969.
Sorrenti said her father, Robert, predicted that the land would be worth a lot.
“My father gave us that land,” she said. “He owned the land around it. He said this corner will be worth something someday. ‘You need to take it.’ ”
She hopes to find a second store somewhere in Clovis because she said a lot of the customers travel from there.
The Blackstone and Nees’ Sierra Nut House will remain open.
The Sierra Nut House is known for selling nuts, dried fruit and gift baskets.
“This is not the end of the story for Sierra Nut House,” management wrote. “Just closing of a chapter. We can’t thank you enough for your support throughout the years. It has been a great pleasure to serve our community from our Farm location for over 50 years. We look forward to showing what we have in store for the future.”
