Man dies after hitting pole, rolling truck on McKinley Avenue west of Fresno, CHP says
A 36-year-old Fresno man was killed Tuesday night when the truck he was driving struck a telephone pole and overturned on McKinley Avenue west of Fresno.
In its initial report on the crash, the California Highway Patrol said the man was driving west on McKinley near Monroe Avenue around 10 p.m. when he veered off the road and hit the pole.
The truck overturned and the man was thrown from the vehicle. He was unrestrained, the CHP said.
The driver was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died.
He was identified Wednesday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Todd Roberts Jr., 36, of Fresno.
It is not known whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash and the CHP continues its investigation.
