Pedestrian struck while crossing Shaw Avenue in Fresno. He initially was in the crosswalk
A pedestrian was critically wounded while trying to cross Shaw Avenue during the night Thursday in northwest Fresno.
The incident happened around 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of Valentine and Shaw avenues.
Fresno police said the pedestrian, a man whose age wasn’t immediately known, was attempting to cross Shaw from the south side.
Police said he was initially in the cross walk but veered off shortly after and landed in traffic.
The man was struck by a vehicle and was transported to Fresno Community Regional Medical Center, where he was in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian stayed on scene and was cooperating with the investigation, police said.
