Major road in downtown Fresno will be closed for railroad work. Expect detours

Road closures

Commuters into downtown Fresno take note: Plan for traffic delays to start the work week.

The railroad crossing at Tulare and Q streets in front of the Amtrak train station and near Fresno City Hall will be closed Monday to Wednesday while repairs are done on the tracks.

During that time, Tulare Avenue traffic will detour to Ventura Avenue and Fresno Street, according to an alert from the city.

Access to the Amtrak and Greyhound stations will still be available on Santa Fe Avenue.

Other Fresno-area traffic alerts

The city also issued a traffic alert for a section of North Avenue from Maple to Cedar avenues beginning Friday.

The road is being closed for an emergency sewer main repair that’s expected to last through the week, pending unforeseen delays. Drivers will detour at either Chestnut or Orange avenues, north to Jensen Avenue.

Meanwhile, Caltrans is finishing work on rail barriers along southbound Highway 99 through Selma.

As part of that project, Caltrans announced an overnight closure of the southbound Floral Avenue/State Route 43 off-ramp from 9 p.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Drivers should plan accordingly, Caltrans said.
