Victim of rollover crash into tree near Friant identified as Kerman man, 27, by coroner
The 27-year-old killed in a rollover crash Tuesday that’s still under investigation has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
Jose Nunez Cruz of Kerman was discovered inside a crashed car about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday off of Millerton Road near Friant, the coroner’s office confirmed.
He was headed west on Millerton just past Friant when for an unknown reason he allowed the car to drift off the roadway before it overturned and struck a tree, the California Highway Patrol said.
Officers could not immediately say what led to the fatal crash nor when exactly it happened, saying the incident was still under investigation, CHP said.
Nunez Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene. It had not been determined if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the fatal crash, CHP said.
