Coroner ID’s 26-year-old Clovis man killed in fiery crash at busy intersection

Clovis Police

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in Wednesday night’s crash in Clovis.

Fabian Garcia, 26, of Clovis died from a crash that occurred around 9:30 p.m. at Shaw and Clovis avenues.

Clovis police spokesman Ty Wood said they received calls about a vehicle speeding before crashing into a wall on Shaw, just west of Pollasky Avenue.

Officers arrived and saw a vehicle on fire against the wall. Officers broke the passenger window and pulled Garcia out and began life-saving measures.

Garcia was taken to the hospital and eventually pronounced dead.

Wood said the Clovis Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit were investigating the collision and said the vehicle was westbound on Shaw, traveling at a high rate of speed before crossing Clovis Avenue.

Garcia appeared to then side swipe another vehicle, lost control of his car and collided into a wall that caused a fire and major damage, Wood said.
