Bicycle rider killed crossing Fresno tracks as multiple trains approached, police said

A man riding a bicycle was killed when he was struck by a train in downtown Fresno, police said Friday.

Callers reported the collision about 11:45 p.m. Thursday on train tracks near G and Mono streets, Lt. Leslie Williams said.

Two trains were approaching in opposite directions about the same time while a man on a bike attempted to ride over both sets of tracks before he was hit by the cargo train, she said.

He was struck by the southbound train, police said. The investigation was ongoing.
