An evacuation warning has been issued in Madera County as a wildfire continued to grow at a “high rate of spread,” deputies said early Saturday afternoon.

Cal Fire crews responded to the King Fire in the area of Kinsman Flat and Mammoth Road near the Clearwater Fire Station.

The wildfire broke out at 1:30 p.m. and is at 50 acres, crews said.

The evacuation warning is issued because “there is a potential threat to life and property,” deputies said.

The zone affected is the Houge Ranch and Clearwater Firestone Area.

Road blockage includes Minarets Road at Redinger Overlook and Minarets Road at Fish Creek Campground.

Deputies issued an evacuation advisory for Kingman Flat and Source Point.

“Don’t wait for an evacuation order to leave if you feel threatened,” deputies said, noting that is particularly important for those who may need extra time to get clear or who have pets or livestock.

Residents that need evacuation assistance are asked to call 559-675-7770.
