Rollover truck crash kills Fresno man, CHP says. He has been identified by the coroner
The 69-year-old man who died when his truck rolled following a collision north of Caruthers was identified Wednesday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
James Mattos of Fresno was driving a GMC Sierra in the area of Dinuba and West avenues when he collided with a Nissan Altima carrying two men, the coroner and California Highway Patrol confirmed.
Details on what caused the crash about 11 a.m. Tuesday and the direction of travel were not immediate available, CHP officer Mike Salas said.
The truck and car crashed near the intersection and ended up in an orchard, CHP said. The GMC rolled and came to rest upside down.
Mattos was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP said. The other two men were transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with moderate to major injuries, according to officers.
Neither alcohol not drugs were suspected of being factor in the crash, CHP said.
