Power in central Fresno neighborhoods was restored Sunday afternoon after high winds related to Tropical Storm Hilary helped lead to an outage in the area, Pacific Gas and Electric Co. reported.

The outage was among numerous smaller blackouts in the Fresno-Clovis metropolitan area.

A PG&E spokesman said the outage started with a malfunction on a power pole near West Shields Avenue and North West Avenue.

Traffic lights were down in the area from Dakota Avenue to Highway 180, and Hughes Avenue to Blackstone Avenue.

The energy company said the the outage started about 5:40 a.m.
