Driver smashes through gated community fence and into Fresno house, causing fire

The driver of a full-size truck suffered a medical episode Tuesday that caused him to smash through a Fresno gated community fence and into a house, firefighters said.

The crash happened about 10 a.m. on Medinah Circle near International Avenue and Olympic Drive in north Fresno, Battalion Chief Lupe Fernandez said.

The truck and house caught fire.

The driver, who was said to be in his 60s, was transported to a local hospital, Fernandez said. His condition was not available.

The truck struck a gas line, causing the fire, which went into the attic, he said.

Fire crews were able to spare most of the home but the attic took extensive damage, he said.
