Overturned truck, flooded road snarl Highway 99 traffic in Fresno and Merced counties
Traffic in Fresno and Merced counties were snarled early Wednesday and continued to be detoured or slow during the morning commute, Caltrans said.
An overturned U-haul truck pulling a boat near Fowler and a separate flooding incident near Livingston led transportation officials to detour Highway 99 traffic off the freeway during the early morning hours.
The U-haul pulling the trailer was in an crash with a big rig on the north side of Highway 99 north of Manning Avenue at about 4 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
The overturned truck and trailer were blocking all three lanes for a significant amount of time but appear to have been cleared by 7:15 a.m., CHP said.
Traffic appeared to still be moving slowly on Caltrans cameras.
Caltrans said all lanes of southbound Highway 99 near the Winton Parkway north of Livingston in Merced County were closed due to flooding around 9 p.m. Tuesday.
There was no estimated time for the flooded roadway to re-open.
