Update: Victim found in canal near Riverdale identified as Fresno man by coroner

Fresno County sheriff’s deputies Saturday afternoon launched an investigation after the body of Antonio Padilla, 63, of Fresno was found in a canal northwest of Riverdale.

The discovery was reported just after 1 p.m. near Jameson and Kamm avenues.

The sheriff’s office search and rescue team recovered the body.

Deputies said there were no signs of foul play.

It’s unknown how Padilla ended up in the canal.

He was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday.
