Fire in Clovis on 168 closes freeway, forces evacuation of buildings, apartment

A fire that erupted Monday afternoon in Clovis forced the closure of Highway 168 and the evacuation of buildings and apartment complexes, the Clovis Fire Department reported.

Eastbound 168 was shut down at Herndon Avenue and traffic was diverted off the roadway at Bullard Avenue just after 1 p.m. It reopened about 3 p.m.

Motorists were advised to expect delays.

Several buildings were evacuated by Clovis Police near the blaze, along with apartments near Pollasky and Dewitt avenues, said spokesman Ty Wood, who added there were no reports of injuries.
