Mosquito district assessment is approved
Voters approved a new assessment for the Fresno Mosquito and Vector Control District after votes were counted on Wednesday.
Voters backed the assessment with 64.33% approval in an election that was completed last month.
The district covers 283 square miles and serves 380,000 Fresno County residents in an area that includes western portions of the city of Fresno, Kerman, Biola, Easton, Calwa, Malaga and other unincorporated areas.
Single-family home owners are asked to approve annual assessments of $4.68 or $5, depending on their location. The district covers much of Fresno, Kerman, Biola and Easton. Commercial, agricultural and industrial properties are assessed based on size and type.
The assessment will raise $573,000 for the district to provide services.
