Wrong-way scooter rider hurt in collision with car in Clovis. Police investigate crash

A woman aboard an electric scooter was taken to a hospital Monday afternoon after she collided with a car in Clovis, police say.

The crash took place just before 1:30 p.m. on Fowler Avenue just south of Tollhouse Lane, said spokesman Ty Wood.

The woman was reportedly northbound on a sidewalk on the southbound side of the street. The car driver was exiting an apartment complex on a frontage road and did not see the scooter, Wood said.

The rider suffered facial injuries and was reported to be in moderate condition.

She was wearing a a helmet, according to police, who also said the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
