Driver killed in Highway 99 crash near McKinley exit identified as Fresno man, 22
A 22-year-old man killed when he struck a tree along Highway 99 Sunday in Fresno has been identified, the Fresno County Corner’s Office said Monday.
The tire blew out on a 2000 Lexis LS400 headed north on Highway 99 Sunday, causing the crash that killed Nathan Beltran, 22, of Fresno, according to authorities.
Beltran was near the McKinley Avenue exit about noon when the left-rear tire’s tread separated, the California Highway Patrol said.
The car spun in a clockwise direction before crashing into a eucalyptus tree, killing the driver, CHP said.
Fresno firefighters helped put out flames after the crash, the CHP said.
