Ducati motorcycle rider killed in Hwy. 168 crash in Fresno County foothills identified

The rider of a motorcycle who died in a collision with an SUV near Prather was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Monday.

The 59-year-old identified as Daljit Gill of Fresno was killed about 2:30 p.m. Sunday while riding a 2007 Ducati sports bike, the coroner said.

He was going east on Highway 168 west of Gooseberry Lane and south of Prather before entering a curve and losing control, the California Highway Patrol said.

The motorcycle slid on its side into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2004 Toyota 4Runner driven by a 16-year-old girl, CHP said. She was unable to avoid the crash.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP said, and the Toyota driver was not injured.

Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be a factor in the collision.
