A woman pedestrian was killed Thursday afternoon after getting hit by a vehicle in south Fresno near downtown, police said.

The fatal collision happened around 3:30 p.m. on the E Street offramp from Golden State Boulevard.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Lt. Bill Dooley said.

The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with officers, Dooley said.

Fault in the incident had not been determined, Dooley said. Detectives with the collision reconstruction unit detectives were at the scene.

The streets in the area were to be shut down for several hours for the investigation.
