Fire causes major damage to single-story home in northwest Fresno

A fire broke out in a single-story home at 1112 West Parr Ave. in northwest Fresno near North Harrison Avenue causing major damage to the interior Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

According to the Fresno Fire Department, the blaze started around 1:30 p.m. There was heavy fire damage in one of the bedrooms that extended down the hall and into the living room.

Firefighters were able to put out the blaze. The fire caused approximately $50,000 in damages to the home, officials said.

Two people were home at the time. They were not injured, but lost their two dogs, a chihuahua and a terrier, to the fire. The residents were not identified.

The cause is still being determined.
