Coroner identifies victims killed in Fresno County train collision as married couple

The two victims killed Sunday afternoon in a train collision were identified as a husband and wife, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

Jorge Martinez Escalante, 57, and Guadalupe Lopez Bororquez, 57, of Kettleman City were involved in the collision after they drove around railroad crossing arms and were struck by a northbound train, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred around 2:50 p.m. at East Conejo and South Peach avenues. The couple were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Escalante was driving the vehicle, according to the CHP.

No one on the train was injured.
